New CEO of Marsh Europe appointed

Vicky Beckett 16/01/2012

Marsh has appointed Martin South to the new position of CEO of Marsh Europe, it was announced today.

South is still responsible for Marsh’s operations in Turkey and India, and remains CEO of Marsh, UK and Ireland, until a replacement is found.

This reorganisation follows David Batchelor, the previous CEO of Marsh Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), recently becoming President of Marsh’s International Division.

Robert Makhoul, CEO of Marsh Middle East and North Africa and Jurie Erwee, recently appointed CEO of Marsh Africa will report to Batchelor, as will South.

“Marsh’s EMEA region has evolved substantially over the past few years,” said Batchelor.

South (pictured) said: “I am excited by the opportunity to lead Marsh’s European operations to the next stage in their development.

“In the current economic circumstances, companies across the Continent face an unprecedented risk landscape.

“It is our task to work with our clients to develop the solutions that help them face and overcome these challenges.”

South re-joined Marsh and McLennan Companies in 2007 as CEO of Marsh Ltd, overseeing the UK and Ireland business of Marsh and Guy Carpenter, having initially joined C T Bowring (later to become Marsh) in 1985.

He left Marsh in 1996 to join Zurich Re and was appointed CEO of International Businesses at Zurich Financial Services and a member of the Group Management Board.

Cell Company Guide

WELCOME TO THE Captive Review Cell Company Handbook 2009 – the second edition of our global directory of cell company jurisdictions. Since we last published this directory, the general attitude toward cell companies seems to have shifted up a gear. Whereas single-parent companies have long ruled the captive roost, a slight uptick in the formation of pure captives at the beginning of this year can’t hide the fact that growth in this market is still sluggish.
