Facebook inspires claims software

Vicky Beckett 19/06/2012

New claims handling software based on social media is being developed to help corporates integrate claims information and boost efficiency.

Claims management software companies are working on collaborative Facebook-style products that allow everyone involved in a claim access to an integrated page of claims information via computer software, as well iPad and smartphone apps.

Graham Newman, Fineos’ European product marketing manager, said the company is introducing this product within the Australian state government.

“Instead of having the claims handler at the centre that can create a bottle neck of information, this puts the claim at the centre of the claim.”

Newman says that this technology would be a great system for them because captives are generally parented by large global organisations. “It’s all about collaboration and integration,” he said.

“Many companies have their Facebook page for branding and marketing, but no one seems to have clicked on that they can use social media for claims.”

Clear Path Analysis, a research publishing company for the financial services and investment sectors, hosted a roundtable discussion on this topic with Newman, Rob Smale, Ageas Insurance UK claims and operations director, and Peter Smith, Equity Insurance’s head of claims.
The debate focused on how far technology can improve claims management efficiency.

On Fineos’ new software, Smale said: “It does bring more risk. The more information you put online the more you can create additional questions so it needs be carefully monitored.”

Cell Company Guide

WELCOME TO THE Captive Review Cell Company Handbook –our global directory of cell company jurisdictions. Since we last published this directory, the general attitude toward cell companies seems to have shifted up a gear. Whereas single-parent companies have long ruled the captive roost, a slight uptick in the formation of pure captives at the beginning of this year can’t hide the fact that growth in this market is still sluggish.
