BT Group has handed management of its Isle of Man captive to Aon Insurance Managers (Isle of Man) (AIMIOM).
Communicator Insurance Company (Communicator) was licensed in 2001 as a successor to Communicator Insurance (formed in 1989) and was previously self-managed.
The outsourcing agreement with Aon means the Communicators management team will now join the AIM IOM team to service the Communicator account plus other AIMIOM-managed captives.
BT's group risk manager, Kip Berkeley-Herring, said: "I firmly see this as a real win-win development for all concerned. We look forward to a long-lasting and fulfilling relationship based on these changes."
Communicator's general manager Gary Crease has been appointed as executive chairman for AIMIOM. Prior to joining Communicator, he was managing director of Sedgwick Isle of Man (now Marsh).
Dave Picken, Communicator's accounting manager, who also joined from Sedgwick, is to take up the role of director of finance and accounting for AIMIOM.
Andrew Tunnicliffe, chief operating officer at Aon Global Risk Consulting, said: "We're seeing the trend for more companies opting to outsource their captive management. It is a real coup for Aon to welcome Gary and Dave to the team."

WELCOME TO THE Captive Review Cell Company Handbook 2009 – the second edition of our global directory of cell company jurisdictions. Since we last published this directory, the general attitude toward cell companies seems to have shifted up a gear. Whereas single-parent companies have long ruled the captive roost, a slight uptick in the formation of pure captives at the beginning of this year can’t hide the fact that growth in this market is still sluggish.
