PRESS RELEASE
Captive Review is to produce the UK’s first independently-organised, cross-jurisdictional captive conference in February 2010.
Captive Review, the trade press for the captive insurance industry, is to produce an innovative new event at a distinctive central London venue that promises to set the agenda for all future captive events.
‘Captive Live – UK’, on 22-23 February at Vinopolis, London, is the first independently-organised, cross-jurisdictional captive conference for UK-owned captive owners and prospective owners and will connect the industry at a crucial time in the captive cycle.
With the final stages of Solvency II looming, an increasing pressure to deliver return on capital employed and the traditional market showing signs of hardening, the event will address all of these essential issues plus much more.
Focusing on the UK market, ‘Captive Live – UK’ will be an essential event for risk managers, chief financial officers, treasurers, brokers and captive managers. Captive Review has developed strategic partnerships with the UK risk managers association AIRMIC and other associations representing risk managers, CFOs and treasurers to guarantee delegate attendance.
With over 350 industry professionals attending over two days ‘Captive Live – UK’ will have a strong focus on networking, accompanied by a multi-layered programme of content. Each category of delegate can expect a minimum of three core sessions tailored to their sector, with more general sessions spread through out the day.
Key topics include practical solutions to challenges posed by Solvency II; structuring of employee benefits risks within a captive; environmental liabilities; tax issues and accounting standards, restructuring and exiting captive vehicles; counterparty credit risk; capital efficiency; and customer insurance, amongst others. In addition, the results of Captive Review’s own benchmarking survey will be presented at the event.
Delegates will also have the opportunity to make use of the diary management system to arrange meetings and maximize networking opportunities and manage their itinerary. And the ‘captive clinic’ will be available to offer a ‘group therapy’ solution to all comers, taking questions from delegates on a range of concerns.

WELCOME TO THE Captive Review Cell Company Handbook 2009 – the second edition of our global directory of cell company jurisdictions. Since we last published this directory, the general attitude toward cell companies seems to have shifted up a gear. Whereas single-parent companies have long ruled the captive roost, a slight uptick in the formation of pure captives at the beginning of this year can’t hide the fact that growth in this market is still sluggish.
