Strategic Risk Solutions (SRS) has announced the expansion of its captive management operations into Hawaii with the hiring of former captive regulator Judy Nako.
Nako was formerly the acting deputy commissioner and captive insurance administrator for the State of Hawaii.
SRS's activities in Hawaii will be overseen by Ann Wick, president of Strategic Risk Solutions’ Western Division. The company currently manages its Hawaii-domiciled captives from its Arizona office.
“This is a natural progression for us in supporting our growing list of clients in Hawaii" said Wick. "We have worked with Judy for a number of years as a regulator and we are excited about her joining SRS."
George Sumner, captive insurance administrator and deputy commissioner for the State of Hawaii said he was pleased to welcome SRS to Hawaii.
“Judy Nako has been a tremendous supporter of the Hawaii captive community and we wish her every success at Strategic Risk Solutions," he added.
Brady Young, president of SRS said the company had experienced recent success with taking over the management of captives in Hawaii and other domiciles. “We see tremendous opportunity to help other clients in Hawaii,” he said.
Nako worked for the state's Captive Insurance Branch for eight years and has 17 years experience working with insurance companies in Hawaii.

WELCOME TO THE Captive Review Cell Company Handbook 2009 – the second edition of our global directory of cell company jurisdictions. Since we last published this directory, the general attitude toward cell companies seems to have shifted up a gear. Whereas single-parent companies have long ruled the captive roost, a slight uptick in the formation of pure captives at the beginning of this year can’t hide the fact that growth in this market is still sluggish.
