Willis appoints employee benefits expert

Katy Mughan 11/08/2010

Willis has indicated its interest in taking a thought leadership role in the area of employee benefit captive arrangements with the creation of a new consultancy position.

Kathleen Waslov has been appointed senior vice president and senior resource consultant at Willis to advise clients on captives and/or other funding alternatives for employee benefit programmes.

An industry expert for employee benefit captive arrangements, Waslov has joined Willis from Towers Watson, where she was an advisor to organisations on solutions for financing large employee benefit liabilities.

She will be located in Boston and will work jointly with the captive consulting and multinational employee benefits practices, reporting to Les Boughner, managing director (pictured), consulting and captive management practice and LeAnne Stefl, director of global client advocacy – multinational employee benefits.

Waslov was instrumental in the ground breaking Department of Labor (DOL) approval for a Global 100 company to include their US employee benefits programmes in a captive. She has been publicised widely in various trade journals and has been a frequent speaker at major conferences.

The appointment is the latest step in a series of corporations looking at their captives with respect to global employee benefit programmes.

Cell Company Guide

WELCOME TO THE Captive Review Cell Company Handbook 2009 – the second edition of our global directory of cell company jurisdictions. Since we last published this directory, the general attitude toward cell companies seems to have shifted up a gear. Whereas single-parent companies have long ruled the captive roost, a slight uptick in the formation of pure captives at the beginning of this year can’t hide the fact that growth in this market is still sluggish.
